Easy Search Engine Optimization - Be Discoverable - Talk the Talk

Being discoverable is what the internet is all about. It means putting yourself about a bit, so that your customers can find you. The more places you can be found, the more your customers will find you. It's the equivalent of putting a postcard in the post office window advertising your services. The more post offices and shops the postcard is in, the better chance you have of being discovered. This is what being discoverable means. This is a metaphor for search engine marketing.

You don't need to be a computer guru to get your head around this. Even if you don't know how to do this yourself, at the very least you now understand what you are trying to achieve, and that is - you want to be found. You want to be found anywhere and everywhere that your customers hang out. When customers can find you, they can buy from you.

In this article I am going to discuss the initial steps that need to be taken on the journey to discovery which makes a website discoverable in search engines which is known as search engine optimization or SEO, using search keywords. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN play a major role in discovery and are the place that most of your customers go when trying to find services and products like yours. The words your customers enter are called search terms. Search engines match search terms to websites they have listed, or indexed in their database.

Search Engine Optimization - Search Keywords

When searching, customers type in a string such as 'cheap flights' and press the search button. Search engines return a list of sites that they think are most relevant for the search term 'cheap flights'. For the purpose of this article, it is sufficient to say that search engines will search through their database for websites containing the words 'cheap flights'. The words 'cheap' and 'flights' are called keywords. All sites returned will contain these words somewhere on the site. Any website that doesn't contain theses keywords will not be returned, even though it may be relevant. If a site owner preferred the term 'low cost airline' over 'cheap flights', their website would not appear in the results of the 'cheap flights' search - what a pity.

Talk the talk. It's the first thing a website must accomplish to become discoverable and is a major goal in search engine marketing - SEM. Talking the talk means using the search keywords and search terms that your customers use, word for word. In the example above, any site involved in airline travel needs to include the keywords 'cheap flights' if they have this service to offer, and if those are the words that customers use to search for that service. This is a new phenomenon in the world of marketing, known as search engine marketing. If you want to be discoverable online - you need to mirror the words that your customers use. You are not free to choose these keywords, because if they don't match your customers search terms - you won't be found. This doesn't apply to global brands because everybody knows who they are and will search for them by name. Small to medium sized enterprises do not have this luxury. Do not be fooled by the results of searching for your own website address. Yes - you are top of the list - problem is - nobody knows your website address - so their not going to search for it. Your site needs to be found for the services and products you sell, and the first step to discoverability is to describe them using the search terms and search keywords that customers use to discover them.

Organic Search Engine Optimization - Organic SEO Integration And Technologies

Most people think that organic search engine optimization (organic SEO) is about meta tags, keyword stuffing and internal links. While those efforts do help improve rankings and generate traffic, they're often viewed as the only factors in a search engine optimization campaign.

A newer concept coined "organic search engine optimization" or "organic SEO" has taken on a whole new meaning in recent years and has evolved to include everything from psychology, semantics and site usability to interactive elements like video, instant messaging and video games. Other areas of organic SEO study can include everything from link building and navigation to persuasive copy architecture and social marketing integration.

Today there are many powerful Internet marketing tools available online and vary in price from thousands of dollars to completely free. Click Track (no affiliation) makes an excellent product that uses the correlation between hand/mouse and eye movement to track everything a searcher does on any page of your website. It then makes a digital "heatmap" that shows how people are viewing and navigating your website and reveals tons about your page's design, content and usability. One recent study of an affiliate website promoting Nike's showed that a high percentage of searchers were repeatedly clicking on their banner graphic. It revealed that searcher's thought the banner was a link to a new Nike running shoe but got frustrated and left after several attempts at clicking the image. So they changed the banner to an image link and found their bounce rate for that page decrease by almost fifty percent and it was all based on this unique data. This is just one example of the many advanced tools that are used today that provides unique insight into search behavior, but it's usually for a hefty price.

Budget constraints aside, many companies miss golden opportunities when it comes to Internet marketing and forget to focus on the basics like great content, clear communication and clean design. I've recently heard this mindset referred to as "functionalism" and to me it is an integral part of organic SEO and is one of the most accessible and budget friendly. This article for instance, is an example of organic SEO and was designed to hopefully spark your imagination, promote my services and contribute something of value to the web.

The proliferation of this mindset of organic SEO is gaining momentum, especially as search engines like Google continue to try and improve their algorithms that encourage higher standards for website design, development and classification. A most recent and very noticeable example of this would be the new Google quality scores that are currently wreaking havoc for certain people industry wide. The benefits of an organic search engine optimization strategy have a tendency to resist changes to algorithms and continue to evolve on many different levels and encompass a broad range of technology, analytics and methodologies. So next time you're thinking about your Internet marketing mojo, think organically.

Internet Marketing And The Hidden Keys Success

By: Demetrios Tzortzis

It's no secret that there are loads of cash to be generated online. Internet marketing is huge, but it is still just that: Marketing. You have to develop an understanding of how the Internet works. Without a working knowledge of what makes the giant function, you will find it most difficult to avoid becoming one of the 97%+ failure statistics.

Here are some of the all too often overlooked Internet marketing concepts that you must address regularly if you wish to succeed:

- You have to study your intended demographics. That means that you need to do research about what you will sell and more importantly, who you will sell it to. Not every product will sell in the long run. You need to promote a product with implicit and repetitive value. You also need to figure out whom to try to sell it to. Even valuable products have certain groups who will buy them and those that will not.

- You need to understand the concept of niche marketing. A niche is a subgroup or groups within a given industry. Where the industry may be bicycles, the niche that you target may be Italian racing bicycles. By specifying, you greatly narrow the odds of touching the right people. You also minimize promotional expenses by avoiding contact with the wrong groups.

- If you make your product difficult to find for your intended niche, you will not generate leads and sales. You have to place your product where it just about jumps into their laps. When it is easy to find, you will convert more sales, period. Google Adwords is an excellent choice to consider. Most people begin searching for what they wish to purchase on a search engine and Google is by far the most popular.

- You need to follow up with your prospects converted or not. If you make a sale, follow up. Ask questions and find out what you did right and what you could have done better. If you fail to convert a prospect, follow up. Find out what you did incorrectly to determine what not to do in the future. This is an integral element for increasing your conversions and ROI.

Remember that Internet marketing presents unforeseen opportunities to generate massive wealth and success. Also remember that most endeavors to do so fail. It is a hard fact, but one that can be avoided with attention and diligence. Prosper through Internet marketing!

How Often Should You Update Your Website?

By: Sean Rasmussen

We're always being told that keeping our websites fresh is the key to making sure customers and readers keep coming back for more.

But how often should we be making updates? Is once a day too much? Maybe once a week isn't often enough? How can you tell?

The first clue is this - you need to make sure your website is always truthful. By this I don't mean that you would ever tell lies; rather I mean that the information contained on its many pages is always correct. If you suddenly find you've got tons of broken links, your articles are weeks if not months out of date, and half the products you're selling are out of date as well, then you know that an overhaul is long overdue.

The next clue comes in the form of emails from subscribers. You'll always get one or two from people who will query information or links of some kind, but if the numbers suddenly start going up you can take that as an indication you've got some work to do.

It's also important to remember that Google loves active websites. When those search engine spiders go out for a crawl around the web, they tend to notice the sites that have plenty of active links, lots of relevant and up to date content, and plenty of activity.

By updating your site regularly you will continue to attract the attention of the spiders, and your site will benefit as a result. If you stop updating your site for a while, you'll notice your search engine ranking will start to fall. It might be a constant battle to keep your website up to date, but if you don't you'll pay in more ways than one.

In essence then, you should probably be updating your site every day. By keeping on top of this job you'll be better able to spot tiny errors and cracks as they appear, and you'll be able to patch them up quickly without it causing you any major problems at all.

The problem is that lots of people assume a site update will take hours. It doesn't. Not if you do it daily. You might just tweak it here and there, or you may just give it the once over and find there is nothing to do.

The point is, if you are serious about having a successful website that makes sales, makes money and draws in the traffic, you shouldn't mind taking a look at it every day to see where you can improve on things. If it starts to feel like a chore you're either in the wrong business, or you're doing something wrong.

There is no website online that is perfect in every way. But all that daily tweaking can improve your results, improve your ranking and improve your traffic, as you slowly find ways of advancing your knowledge and using it in a positive way.

Suddenly that dreary task of updating your site doesn't seem so bad, does it?

How To Make A Good Looking Blog

Being successful in the blogging world consists of lots of little details. There are a few things that you can do to help the situation. As a blogger, your ultimate goal is have good readership. Luckily there are a few things that you can do to help your blog be appealing. One major concern that many bloggers have is whether or not their blog is up to par with others.

For some of you it may seem very basic to decide whether or not your blog is appealing or not. But believe it or not, there are a few things that you can look for to decide whether or not your blog really is appealing to others. You want to have an appealing blog so that you have lots of readers--that's just how it works.

Let's Start With a Logo

Having a good logo on your site may seem very basic but it can really say a lot about your page. The logos is one of the main focuses on your page and since it will generally be at the top, it's the first thing the readers will notice. If your logo does not catch your readers eyes, then they may not continue to read your site.

When designing a logo, you will want to keep it simple but appealing. If it is not placed at the very top of your page then atleast place it about the page fold and in a spot that does not distract from the content.

Look at the color Scheme

Another factor when it comes to having an appealing blog is the color scheme. Many bloggers will recommend that you use a plain white background and using a generic black font color. Though this may appear to be plain and boring, it is much easier to focus on and read when it is all in black and white. Having fancy and decorative fonts and too many bright colors will only take away from the feel of your blog.

Add Some Images and Fonts

There are a few more things that you will want to consider when it comes to the overall feel of your blog. One major one is to add images to enhance your site. Try to include images that are relevant to your blog and the content. If you don't know where to go to get good images, there are many websites where you can purchase images for little money.

Another thing to look at is your font. You want it to be easy to read and so you may want to choose a sans serif font like Arial or Tahoma. Sometimes if you use a serif font like Times New Roman it is harder to read and just doesn't quite seem to flow. If a reader has a hard time to focus on the content they may not finish reading it.

There are a lot of details that you can look at when it comes to making your blog more appealing. Just remember to not be afraid of making changes. Changing your blog may be something you need to constantly be doing but will constantly help your blog stay just as appealing as when you started.

How Can You Benefit From Keyword Density?

Keyword density is an Internet marketing indicator of the number of times the selected keyword appears in the web page. But mind you, keywords shouldn't be over used, but should be just sufficient enough to appear at important places in your website.

If you repeat your keywords with every other word on every line, then your site will probably be rejected as an artificial site or spam site. This is not what you should aim for, so you have to be careful.

Keyword density is always expressed as a percentage of the total word content on a given web page.

For example, suppose you have 100 words on your webpage (not including HMTL code used for writing the web page), and you use a certain keyword for five times in the content. The keyword density on that page is got by simply dividing the total number of keywords, by the total number of words that appear on your web page.

So here it is 5 divided by 100 = .05. Because keyword density is a percentage of the total word count on the page, you multiply the above by 100, that is 0.05 x 100 = 5%

The accepted standard for a keyword density is between 3% and 5%, to get recognized by the search engines and you should never exceed it. Take note of this.

There are simple steps to check the density:

- Copy and paste the content from an individual web page into a word-processing software program like Word or Word Perfect.

- Go to the "Edit" menu and click "Select All". Now go to the "Tools" menu and select "Word Count". Write down the total number of words in the page.

- Now select the "Find" function on the "Edit" menu. Go to the "Replace" tab and type in the keyword you want to find. "Replace" that word with the same word, so you don't change the text.

- When you complete the replace function, the system will provide a count of the words you replaced. That gives the number of times you have used the keyword in that page.

- Using the total word count for the page and the total number of keywords you can now calculate the keyword density.

Remember, that this rule applies to every page on your site. It also applies to not just to one keyword but also a set of keywords that relates to a different product or service. The keyword density should always be between 3% and 5%.

Take Your Website to the Next Level with Google Adsense

By: Reginald Curtis

If webmasters want to earn more with their websites, a good way to do it is through Google Adsense. There are lots of webmasters working hard to earn some good money through their sites. But then some of the guros of them are enjoying hundreds of dollars a day from Google Adsense ads on their sites. What makes these webmasters different from the others is that they are different and they think out of the box.

You will be very suprized how easy some of these stadiges are to inpliment.
Here are some of the best proven ways to improve your Adsense earnings.

Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go best with the background of your site. If your site has a blue background, try to use blue as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Google Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

Concentrating on one format of Google Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the Google ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.

Remove the Google Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top were they will be seen. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.

Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as adsense text, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring.

If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.

Must-Read Tips For Domain Name Registration

Author: Maneet Puri

Domain Name

If you are an average internet user, then you must be pretty familiar with the term ‘domain name’. In layman terms, it is a unique name given to address a particular website each time you visit it on the internet. However, technically speaking, a domain name means much more than that. Domain name of a website refers to the text name that corresponds to its numeric IP address of a computer in the internet. The domain name of a website possesses some kind of characteristics that differentiate it from other domain names.

As a matter of fact, you could come across domain names that are pretty similar to each other but not exactly alike. Usually, similar sounding domains names may have extra characters such as underscores (_), hyphens (-) in them to distinguish them from each other. Similarly, domain names could also be different from each other in terms of their extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .gov and so forth.

The internet users around the world can access to a particular website only by using its domain name which is unique.

Need For Domain Name Registration

Domain name registration is the first and forest step of hosting a website on the World Wide Web. It offers an identity to your website with which the internet users will recognize your website. The more unique you domain name sounds, the easier it is to remember for your site visitors. A unique domain name also enables you to safeguard against domain replication.

How to Register A Domain Name

You can register a domain name by going to anyone of the worldwide domain name registrars. Whether you are able to register your domain with a specific name depends on a number of factors; the most important of them being the availability of the domain name. Some of the widely used domain name registrars are:

http://www.namesecure.com,
http://www.godaddy.com, and
http://www.hostway.com

The cost for registering a domain name might differ from one registrar to another. However, you must check different prices charged by various domain name registrars before settling for one.

Guidelines for Domain Name Registrations

Domain name being such an important aspect of your website calls for meticulous consideration of a few factors such as:

- Consider some key factors such as terms, length of service, and price per service package while registering a domain name. You should always choose a service package that suits your existing and future needs even if it cost high in stead of settling for a cheaper service package that could prove costly in the long run.

- Choose a domain name that should contain either you own product or company’s name. This will not only ensure that your opted domain name is available but also enhance the brand awareness of your product.

- From SEO (Search Engine Optimization) standpoint, you should consider including the targeted keyword in your domain so that it will be search engine friendly which in turn will immensely benefit your website from SEO perspective.

- Registering your domain name on a dedicated IP server is always recommended as it will offer you better credibility from search engines. Domain names hosted on shared IP servers stand the risk of being blacklisted incase anyone of the other subscribers engages in some unethical SEO practices.

15 Tips to Bring More Traffic to Your Blog

By: John Pawlett

There are many factors that make blogs much better than normal WebPages including the speed at which blogs are indexed, ability to submit to blog directories & normal directories, pings and track backs. All these little things can help drive more traffic to blogs. Here are 15 popular techniques you can use:

1. Create at least four keyword posts per day. Most of the top blogs such as Boing Boing, Daily Kos, and Instapundit (with literally tens of thousands of visitors per day) publish an average of 30 small 100-150 word posts per day according to "Secrets of the A-list Bloggers: Lots of Short Posts" by TNL.net

2. Submit to My Yahoo! When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3. Submit to Google's Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google's Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site.

4. Add a relevant link directory to your blog and trade links like a demon possessed! Although it may take more time than simply submitting to a search engine one time, this method is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site. Use software such as Zeus to speed up the link trading process.

5. Use ping sites like ping-o-matic. Ping your site every time you add a new post.

6. Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as AltaVista, and MSN.

7. Submit your blog to traditional directories such as DMOZ. Directories (particularly DMOZ) increase relevance with Google. DMOZ is very picky, but what do you have to lose by trying?

8. Submit to as many RSS Directories and Search Engines as possible. This is a simple but repetitive process that can be done with software such as RSS SUBMIT.

9. Comment on other blogs. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like "I agree." Leave well thought out replies that will force readers to wonder "who wrote this?"

10. Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site.

11. Go offline. Use newspaper ads, public bulletin boards, business cards, even stickers to let as many people as possible know your blog exists.

12. Add a link to your blog in your e-mail signature block.

13. Use Groups (Usenet). Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure to use your blog URL like it is your name.

14. Use Forums. Forums are one of the best places to go for advice. Go to forums and find problems to solve. Make sure you leave your blog name, but be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave.

15. Tag your website. Tagging is a new idea that has erupted across the web. Sites like Del.icio.us, Technorati and many others have a social feature that allows you to place your article under keywords or "tags" that everyone interested in that tag can see.

Offline Traffic Generating Ideas

By: Al Mendoza

It's no secret that the most difficult aspect of building an online business is being able to drive targeted visitors to your website. This is often the difference between being successful or not.

The trouble is that most of the internet marketers seem to think of website promotion as just submitting to search engines, directories, link building and ezines or pay-per-click advertising.

However you need to understand that most people in the world spend most of their time off-line. They read newspapers, magazines, listen to radio, watch TV, talk with their friends, neighbors and family. Not all their time is spent surfing on the internet.

In simple terms, by ignoring the value of off-line marketing you could be leaving as much as 70% of your profits on the table!

So, if you're a smart marketer and you're willing to use off-line marketing strategies to grow your business, here are some suggestions for creating an off-line campaigns:

Let your local papers know that you have an unique product that will benefit the local community and you are able to help them save time, learn more and be more effective in their daily lives.

This could lead to an interview with a local reporter or even with a national with your website product as a featured item and will drive people to at least see what the buzz is about.

At the very least it will create an awareness of your domain name or product in their sub-conscience mind.

Try finding a local business that is related to your product and offer them a discount voucher to give their customers for your product.

Take out small ads in local or niche magazines to advertise the product. Some ads are relatively cheap comparable to a solo ad in a main ezine.

Try handing out flyers with a special offer in the high street or find shops that would allow you to leave them on the counter for customers to pick up.

Try sending a fax broadcast to businesses that could benefit from your product. Some companies have lists of fax numbers and can send out the fax for as little as interview each.

If you can develop a unique twist or benefit of your product or service, then you could become newsworthy and even get an interview with a local reporter, who can write a better article than any you could put together for their readers or listeners.

Investigate the possibility of sending out Press Releases to the local media. Send them your product for review. Get a well known celebrity to endorse your product.

I am sure you can think of many other ways to use off-line marketing and later in this issue you will find additional methods for using off-line marketing other than sticking notes on lamp-posts to create an awareness of your site.

Learning the Basics of RSS

By: Samizr Khan

What is RSS? You probably have seen this three-letter acronym in the course of your internet surfing. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary; syndicating means republishing an article that comes from another source such as a website.

The RSS feed usually contains the title of the update originating from the website. It is also usually the link to the website source.

What are the benefits of RSS? RSS gives benefits to both readers (users) and web publishers.

1. It gives you the latest updates. Whether it is about the weather, new music, software upgrade, local news, or a new posting from a rarely-updates site learn about the latest as soon as it comes out.

2. It saves on surfing time. Since an RSS feed provides a summary of the related article, it saves the user's time by helping s/he decide on which items to prioritize when reading or browsing the net.

3. It gives the power of subscription to the user. Users are given a free-hand on which websites to subscribe in their RSS aggregators which they can change at any time they decide differently.

4. It lessens the clutter in your inbox. Although your email address will be required to enjoy the services of online RSS aggregators, RSS does not use your email address to send the updates.

5. It is spam free. Unlike email subscriptions, RSS does not make use of your email address to send updates thus your privacy is kept safe from spam mails.

6. Unsubscribing is hassle-free. Unlike email subscriptions where the user is asked questions on why s/he is unsubscribing and then the user would be asked to confirm unsubscribing, all you have to do is to delete the RSS feed from your aggregator.

7. It can be used as an advertising or marketing tool. Users who subscribe or syndicate product websites receive the latest news on products and services without the website sending spam mail. This is advantageous to both the web user and the website owner since advertising becomes targeted; those who are actually interested in their products are kept posted.

What are the drawbacks of RSS? The disadvantages of RSS use are brought about by its being a new technology and some user-preference concerns.

1. Some users prefer receiving email updates over an RSS feed.

2. Graphics and photos do not appear in all RSS feeds. For conciseness and ease of publication, RSS feeds do not display the photos from the original site in announcing the update except for some web-based aggregators

3. The identity of the source website can be confusing. Since RSS feeds do not display the actual URL or name of the website, it can sometimes get confusing on what feed a user is actually reading.

4. Publishers cannot determine how many users are subscribed to their feed and the frequency of their visits. Moreover, they would not know the reasons why users unsubscribe which could be important in improving their advertising.

5. RSS feeds create higher traffic and demands on the server. Most readers still prefer the whole update over a brief summary of the entry, thus they still access the site.

6. Since it is a new technology, many sites still do not support RSS.

How do I start using RSS? There are two things needed: an RSS feed and an RSS aggregator or reader. The RSS feed comes from an RSS-supported website. There are also websites that provide a list of RSS feeds of different websites. An RSS aggregator is used to read the RSS feed from the source website. It scans and collects data on latest RSS feeds from the worldwide web.

An aggregator comes in two forms: a downloadable program also known as desktop aggregator and an online or web-based aggregator. Downloadable aggregators may require payment before they can be acquired, while internet-based aggregators are usually free of charge. All you need to do is to register an account then you are ready to use their services. Both versions allow you to customize or choose which RSS feeds to enter. Paid aggregators are usually chosen by more experienced users and they usually allow more freedom in customizing feeds.

1. Choose an RSS aggregator to use. For beginners, web-based aggregators are recommended since they are usually user-friendly

2. Scan the homepage of your target website for the RSS or XML button. It contains the RSS code you need to enter in the aggregator. Copy this code. Syndic8 provides a directory of websites that support RSS.

3. Paste the code (which contains the URL of the website) in your aggregator. There is a space provided for pasting the code.

After you have done these three easy steps, you can start reading the RSS feeds coming from the website. New postings appear as they are published real time at the source website.

RSS and Internet Marketing. The original idea of RSS came from Netscape, where their intention is to provide a means for users to customize their personal homepage to contain links to websites that interest them, similar to bookmarking websites.

The application of RSS to internet marketing was an unforeseen development to RSS technology developers. Since users are given the freedom to add RSS feeds to their aggregators, those who are interested in particular products and services available in the internet can now be notified real time. Marketing becomes more specific to interested people and not a hit-and-miss operation.

Those who intend to use RSS for marketing their products and services should consider linking up with email account providers, (e.g. Yahoo, MSN, Google mail); networking websites (e.g. Friendster, Multiply, My Space, Hi5); websites of newspapers and television network websites (e.g. New York Times, CNN) for medium to big-scale companies. Small-time industries can also look into networking websites as well as personal blog websites (e.g. Blogspot) and websites of clubs and organizations that would probably make use of their products or services e.g. a fishing supplies store can look for the website of their local fishing club for possible RSS marketing.

Clearly, RSS is an innovation in information management in the worldwide web as well as online marketing. We can expect better RSS technology in the not-so-distant future as its popularity increases among users and website owners alike.

Adsense Tips - Top 5 Tips To Increase Click Through Rates

By: Shakil Zaman

The Google adsense program is now one of the most popular ways to make money online for webmasters. If you own a blog or a site then by simply adding adsense you have the opportunity to make good income depending on the levels of traffic your site receives.

However just because your site receives traffic it does not necessarily mean that it will transfer into adsense clicks as website visitors are now familiar with adsense and can be very good at avoiding it. Here are some of the best ways to get your site visitors to notice your ads which means that the likelihood of ad clicks increases significantly.

Tip 1: Use More Ads

If your site is suffering from very low click through rates such as under one percent then adding more ads may help. The adsense program allows 3 ad units and 2 link units. If your page has enough content then seriously consider integrating all these units into your site.

Tip 2: Place Ads Above The Fold

The location of the ads is very important in order to get the most clicks possible. Make sure that you place some ads above the fold on your website. The above the fold area is the part of your site that is first seen when the page loads without the visitor having to scroll down.

Tip 3: Place Ads Toward The Center Of The Page

The center of the page receives the most attention by web visitors so whenever possible center your ads or get them as close as possible towards the center of the page.

Tip 4: Use The Right Colors For Your Ads

Using the right colors in your adsense ads can make a big difference in helping to blend your ads in with the rest of your site. Make sure the link color in your ads match the main link color on your site. It is also preferable to use a grey color for the ad url, this will help to make the ad headline stand out more which should help to increase click through rates since most headlines are written to attract clicks.

Tip 5: Place Ads Directly In Your Articles

You need to place ads directly in your content in order to get them noticed more. If you have an article page then add an adsense unit directly below the title of that article. Also you can use HTML tables to place adsense units in your article paragraphs and have the text in your articles wrap around the ads.

Make sure that you are not squeezing your content too much so be sure to have enough space for large adsense units and also enough text so that your articles still look good and readable. It is best to use the 336x280 ad unit as much as possible as it has been shown to be a good performer and also make sure to always remove borders from all ads as this will make the ads blend in better with the rest of your site.

Also remember that advertising works by creating an interruption in the user experience. Consider television and how you are shown ads without notice right in the middle of your favorite shows. This is done to force you to notice the ads so a similar approach needs to be used with adsense ads to draw more clicks. Put your ads in positions that gently interrupt your visitors without making them want to leave your site. Apply some of these tips to help you get higher adsense click through rates and make more money from your site.

Web Directories

By: Ken Tan

Simply put, a directory is a compilation of websites organized in a logical way. Web directories are also known as indexes, web indexes or catalogues. Most people create a web directory in an attempt to organize a large amount of information, or sites in particular, that refer to a limited subject area. Unlike search engines, that display a list of web pages based on keywords; a web directory breaks down a list of web sites into categories and sub-categories. These categories are usually arranged hierarchically, but they can also be found alphabetically or topically, depending on the kind of listing.

Web directories are a valuable promotional tool, basically because they are very organized. Because of the directorys structure, people interested in your content will be driven to you. Structured web directories are very easy to find and access. Web directories also significantly improve your sites credibility. To protect the directorys reputation, there is a minimum requirement before you can sign up with them. Therefore, directorys make it possible for people to perceive your site as a legitimate and trustworthy entity.

Various types of listing typically depend on the fee paid for inclusion in a web directory.

* Paid Submissions A lot of people opt for this listing which offers premium services with fast approval. A huge advantage of this kind of listing is that it provides good placement which theoretically increases your site traffic. Because of the size of the world wide web, the price for site submissions ranges from $1 to $30, sometimes as much as $50, depending on the page ranking or strength of the directory.
* Featured Links Much like paid submissions, featured links come with a price. However, in this listing, your site is reviewed and given a premium slot in the category where it is submitted. Some directories put your submitted site at the very top of the list with a fairly good write-up.
* Featured Homepage Link This type of listing considerably augments site traffic better than most of types of listings, again depending on the popularity of the directory the site was submitted. Sites are generally listed on the homepage of the directory which makes it more visible to people searching for your content. Featured Homepage Links also come with a price.
* Reciprocal Link In essence, the site that was submitted must link back to the directory where it was listed and no fees will be charged.
* Free Submissions A lot of people opt for this kind of listing, for the obvious reason that fees will be charged to review your site. However, free directories have significant back logs that some sites never get listed or reviewed.
* No Follow This listing merely has a rel=nofollow attribute added to hyperlinks. This is indicative that the destination of the hyperlink should not be given any additional ranking by user agents. Search engines do not follow this link and was only put there to point it out not to endorse it.

2 Incredible Ways To Maximize Your Google Adsense Earnings

By: Don Alexander

Most webmasters know that Adsense generates a sizeable source of additional advertising income. That is why most of them use it to go after high paying keywords. They have with them the lists that tells what the keywords are and have already used various methods of identifying them. And yet, after putting up these supposed-to-be high paying keywords into their pages, the money they expected to come rolling in is not really coming in.

What is it that they are doing wrong?

Having the pages is with the proper keywords is one thing. But driving visitors to those pages is another matter and often the factor that is lacking.

The thing is, to get visitors to your high paying keyword pages, you need to optimize your site navigation.

Stop for a moment and think about how visitors are using your website. After a visitor has landed on a certain page, they have the tendency to click on another page that sounds interesting. They get there because of the other links that appears on a page that they initially landed on. This is site navigation. It is all about enabling visitors to move about your site. And one way of maximizing your Adsense earnings.

A typical website have menu links on each page. The wording on these links is what grabs a visitor's attention and gets them to click on one of the links that will take them to another page of that website. Links that have "free' or "download" are oftentimes good attention-grabbers.

This navigation logic can also be applied to driving traffic to your high paying pages. There are some websites that are getting a lot of traffic from search engines, but have low earnings. The trick is to try and use come cleverly labeled links to get the visitors off that pages and navigate them to the higher earning ones. This is one great way of turning real cheap clicks to real dollars.

Before you begin testing if this same style will work for you and you website, you need to have two things. Something to track and compare and some high earning pages you want to funnel your site traffic to. An option is to select a few of your frequently visited pages. This is ensuring fast result to come by.

Now, the next thing to do is think of ways to get visitors viewing a particular page to try and click on the link that will take them to your high earning pages. Come up with a catchy description for that link. Come up with a catchy and unique description for the link. Think of something that people do not get to see everyday. That will trigger their curiosity enough to try and see what that was all about.

You can also use graphics to grab your readers' attention. There is no limitation to what you can do to make your link noticeable. If you are after the success of your site, you will do everything it takes just to achieve that goal. Just be creative. As far as many Adsense advertisers are concerned, there are no written and unwritten laws to follow regarding what they write. Just as long as you do not overstep the guidelines of the search engines, then go for it.

Also remember that it is all about location, location and location. Once the perfect attention grabbing description has been achieved, you have to identify the perfect spot on your page to position that descriptive link to your high paying page.

There is nothing wrong with visiting other websites to see how they are going about maximizing their site navigation. "Hot pages" or "Most read" lists are very common and overly used already. Get to know the ones that many websites are using and do not try to imitate them.

Another way of doing it is to try and use different texts on different pages. That way you will see the ones that work and what does not. Try to mix things around also. Put links on top and sometimes on the bottom too. This is how you go about testing which ones get more clicks and which ones are being ignored.

Let the testing begin. Testing and tracking until you find the site navigation style that works best for you site.

Google Adsense: Why It's The Easiest Money In Online Business!

By: Don Alexander

For the last couple of years, Google Adsense has dominated forums, discussions and newsletters all over the Internet. Already, there are tales of fabulous riches to be made and millions made by those who are just working from home. It seems that Google Adsense has already dominated the internet marketing business and is now considered the easiest way to making money online.

The key to success with Adsense is the placing of ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. Obviously, it does not pay to target low cost-per-click keywords and place them on pages that do not receive hits.

With all the people getting online and clicking away everyday, it is no wonder why Google Adsense has become an instant hit. The only question is: Why aren't you a part of it?

For some who are just new to this market, it would be a blow to their pride knowing that their homepage is buried somewhere in the little ads promoting other people's services. But then, when they get the idea that they are actually earning more money that way, all doubts and skepticism is laid to rest.

There are two major, and clever, factors that some successful webmaster and publishers are learning to blend together in order to make money easier using Adsense.

1. Targeting high traffic pages on your website. If you check on your logs, you will discover that many of your visitors are taking advantage of the free affiliate marketing resources and ebooks that you are offering on your site. In simple words, your ads are working effectively and are generating more clicks. It also means more money for you.

2. Placing Adsense links on pages that are producing little, or better yet, no profit. By placing Adsense on a free resources page, you will reduce the amount of potential customers being lost to other sites. Tricky, but effective nonetheless.

When learned to work effectively, these two factors are actually a good source of producing a minimal amount of revenue from a high traffic page. Many people are using this strategy to pick up some extra and cash with Adsense. This is also especially rewarding to informational sites that focus their efforts on delivering powerful affiliate link free content to their visitors. Now they can gain a monetary return on their services.

With the many techniques that people are now learning on how to make the easiest money by their Adsense, it is not surprising that Google is trying everything to update and polish their Adsense in order to maintain their good image.

The possibility of adding a 2nd tier in Adsense is not impossible. With all the people spending more time in their Adsense now and still more getting into this line of marketing, there is no doubt about the many new improvements yet to be made. Imagine the smiles on the faces of the webmasters and publishers all around the world if ever they sign up for sub-affiliates and double or even triple the amount that they are already earning.

The one particularly handy money-making feature that is available with Adsense now is the ability to filter out up to 200 urls. These gives webmasters the option to block out low value offers from their pages as well as competitors to their websites. Talk about taking only those that are advantageous and discarding the ones that seem "useless".

With Google Adsense, the possibilities are limitless. Yet there is also the possibility of someone taking advantage of the easy money process that this internet marketing is doing. If you think more about it, these negative factors may force Google to break down and thrash Adsense in the process. If that happens, people would have to go back to the old ways of internet marketing that does not make money online as easy as Adsense.

One of the newest ways to use adsense is Google Adsense Revenue Sharing. You can make a post on a forum or video site, and if you make enough posts, you get to share 50-100% of the sites Adsense profit back to you. And this is not even related to your own site, but other people's. How exciting is that? Simply type in Google Adsense Revenue Sharing, and watch the sites pop up!

For now, however, Google Adsense is here to stay. As long as there are people wanting to earn some easy cash online just using their talents, the future ahead is looking good. Besides with all the strict guidelines that Google is enforcing over Adsense, it will take awhile for the Adsense privileges to be spammed and even terminated.

Google Adsense Tips and Tricks...

Every single website and its owner have the opportunity to make some great money by displaying Google Adsense ads on it. Although many webmasters are making a nice income with these ads, many aren't.

Many people say that all you have to do is put up a website and you'll be making over $100 a day with Google Adsense. It does sound simple and it is, but you will need to optimize your site so that you do generate more and more clicks on the ads that are sitting on your site.

The first thing that you need to do is to Place the Google Adsense ads in the right spot of the page. This will determine how much money you will make each day. It is very important that you place the ad at the top of the page (above the fold) on your website in order to get the most clicks. What this really means is that you will want to place the Adsense code that Google gives you high enough on the page so that your visitors do not have to scroll down to see the Google ads. If you choose to have the ads right at the top above everything else then do that. By placing the Google Adsense ads at the top of your website above the fold, there is a greater chance that people will click on the ad, which will help your site generate a higher click through rate also known as CTR. The reason for this is because the majority of your visitors will not scroll down the page and look at it.

A lot of the time, people look over the top part of the page without worrying about scrolling down. The way you blend the ads with the rest of your page can determine if the ad is visually appealing or not. It is very crucial to make the Google Adsense ads look like your site and not another ad. You can do this by making the font and color of the ad's text similar to the rest of the page. I also recommend that you blend the background of the ad with the background of your page. It should basically have the same color.

Google gives you the option to go into your account and customize your ads in different fonts and colors. This will help you blend the ads to your site. Make sure that you don't use the banner ads on your site because this will decrease your click through rate.
People who visit your website usually try to avoid any banner and picture ads that they see. If you want to increase your click through rate, you will want to add text ads. Google gives you that option so use it.

Here are some other small tips to increase your Adsense income:
1. Google has confirmed that using the 336x280 rectangle ad block size does have the highest click through rate. Using this ad size will increase your click through rate and the income that you generate.

2. Using a blue underline for the links can also improve your click through rate. This allows the ads to actually stand out and look clickable.

If you follow the advice given above, you can improve your CTR and make more money with Google Adsense.

The Secrets of Google Adsense 2008

By: Robert Thomson

It is no surprise that Google Adsense still remain the top favorable income source for most Webmasters. However, as Google implement changes to the advertisement format and behavior, there were considerably a number of Webmasters who are upset about these changes that eventually reduces their earnings.

In order to stay unaffected by the constant changes enforced by Google, a Webmaster has to go back to the basics creating value to the users. This article will illustrate how you can go about creating valuable content and eventually, pulling in at least hundreds dollars from Google Adsense.

First, the most important factor is to attract the right type of traffic. It makes no use having 100,000 regular visitors per day to your site as compared to 50,000 unique and first-time visitors. Most regular visitors will not click your advertisement. This explains why most blogs with most of its traffic coming from bookmarks do not perform using Google Adsense.

There is only one type of traffic that convert the best for Adsense earnings Search Engine traffic. Most clicks on the advertisement are triggered by first-time visitors especially if they were referred from search engines. Therefore, in order to increase your earnings for Adsense, focus on Search Engine Optimization. Some of the proven optimization techniques include titles shortening, keywords allocation, article submission and social bookmarking for gaining links popularity.

Another critical impact is the advertisement format. Despite all the various school of thoughts, the most effective format is one that is able to blend into your content and appears natural (in terms of content, colors and fonts). Advertisement placed in boxes also perform better than when they were in the rectangles. Advertisements that are placed above fold also did a good job attracting clicks. However, you should limit the advertisement to 3 unit per page. Anything more than that will make your page looks unprofessional and low value.

One very useful tip to increase your Adsense earnings is to use the horizontal link unit. This type of advertisement appears like navigation menu and thus, making up most of the clicks in an average site. Most of my sites generate over 70% of my income from this particular type of advertisement format.

To summarize, there are only two things to worry about Traffic and advertisement format. Once you can get the right type of traffic flowing into your site, you can then focus on capturing the clicks from the traffic by displaying natural advertisement.

How To Make Money With Google Adsense

By: Hunter Crowell

Websites are being created everyday, using this growing phenomenon to their advantage, Google created Google AdSense. Google AdSense is a tool that anyone who owns a website can utilize. It is a simple process and the monetary reward can be limitless. With Google AdSense a company's money making possibilities can increase exponentially.

This program is ideal for any website owner and it is a great incentive for those who do not own a website to consider creating one. Whether a website enjoys the benefits of high traffic or a smaller scale viewing, utilizing Google AdSense does not cost the user a penny. It is simply an added money generating tool that can only benefit the user. There is no start-up fee, no hidden monthly costs, just a simple straightforward program that can help the user and Google make money!

Google AdSense is a great way to generate extra income even while you are away, for example, on vacation. You do not have to do anything more than set up a website and ensure that you have a steady flow of viewer traffic. This is why AdSense is ideal for blogging websites. A blogger can simply post a few articles and let the ads on the page generate a monetary return. And, the more a blogger posts, the more possible viewer traffic, you can imagine the great earning potential.

How does it work? To utilize Google AdSense simply visit Google's website and create an AdSense account. Within a few days, you will be notified whether your account has been accepted or denied. If your account has been accepted, you can then utilize your AdSense for content publisher id number which looks something like this ca-pub-9187111800071908. This id number acts to populate your website with Google ads and every time a viewer of your page clicks on an ad, you receive a percentage of what Google earns.

Two things to be aware of when using Google AdSense. Though the benefits of using Google AdSense are limitless, Google does use discretion and does not give an AdSense account to all website users. If they do not approve of your website's company, subject matter, or services, for example your account request can be denied. Do not fret though! Create a new website. Google is looking to make money and they want to give their account access to websites they feel will generate a profitable return. It is also important to note that Google can track viewer traffic. If they find that ad clicks are being generating by the same website too often or the activity seems suspicious, i.e. you cannot click the ads on your own page your account will be closed. If this happens to you, getting your account access back can be close to impossible. Google does not tolerate the misuse of their program. Though it is a money making endeavor for both parties, the user and Google, it is still a privilege they are offering you, so be sure to respect their policies.

Understanding Adwords and Adsense Smart Pricing

Smart pricing is something that began only recently in the Google Adsense program, and there are many differing opinions on whether this is a good change or a bad one.

To understand the basic premise behind smart pricing, you must first understand a bit about the Adwords program and what an advertiser seeks to get out of using Google Adwords. If you have a company website, a product website, or some other site or blog that you need targeted traffic for, a great way to get this traffic is through pay per click advertising.

So when an advertiser signs up for Google Adwords, they choose a monthly budget, a cost per click that they are comfortable with, keywords that are related to the topic of their website, as well as a text or graphic ad that they would like to represent their website. After their program is set up, their advertisements will appear along the right side of the page under the 'Sponsored Links' tab any time somebody does a Google search for one of the terms they have specified.

An advertiser may also choose to have their ad broadcast through the content network, which is the collection of thousands of independent websites that have signed up for the Adsense program and are currently running the code on their webpages.

Prior to smartpricing, an advertiser could only choose one cost per click (CPC) price, and that advertiser would be charged the same amount whether the click came from the search engine results or whether it came from a site running Adsense. This was good for Adsense publishers, but was not very good for advertisers, seeing as how a person who typed in a specific related term into the search engine would be much more targeted than someone who simply saw that ad on a related website.

The premise behind advertiser smartpricing is that an advertiser can choose two different cost per click settings: one for the ads listed in the search engine, and another (usually cheaper) CPC for the Google content network (websites running Adsense and also Google's ancillary programs like Gmail). The question is, is this good or bad?

Well this is a very heated topic, and many webmasters now say that Adsense is 'dead' because many advertisers will choose a much higher rate like $0.95 per click for ads listed next to search results, and only around $0.15 per click for ads listed in the content network, so Adsense publishers do not earn nearly as much per click as they would have 2 or 3 years ago.

Google AdSense Adlink Units; When The Gurus Talk I Listen

By: Lanard Perry

Everybody on the Internet is an expert, at least if you let them tell it. And everybody who self proclaims to be anybody knows somebody else who is a self appointed guru. Still, there are a few guys who are like EF Hutton - when they speak I listen.

I'm not a fool! The way I figure it is like this. Anybody who has 100,000 links on the Internet, or a website ranking in the top 3% of all web sites must know at least a little something about Internet marketing. So, I pay attention to what they do and say.

I don't buy al they say hook line and sinker, but I do pay enough attention to get the gist of what they're saying, apply it to my progress as an Internet entrepreneur and get on with the business of making money on my computer.

But what you don't hear a lot about are the thousands of people on the Internet making relatively good amounts of money, hundreds to thousands of dollars a month, without spending a lot of money.

I think of them as a silent majority. They don't fly to every seminar in the country just to make contacts and they rarely do joint ventures, because they're relatively obscure and unknown. They are the people who literally sit in front of their computers in their pajamas, click a few links, and wait for the money to roll in and many are doing it by using Google AdSense Adlink Units.

A Google AdSense Adlink Units are those ads that fit neatly across a page. They're thin, flexible in design and are useful for a broad range of applications.

Many thought that they would be ineffective and ignored by web site owners, but boy were they wrong. Now, they directly compete for space directly with the traditional ad units, making it harder than ever for publishers to figure out which ads to place where.

AdSense Adsenseprofit Biz Alternative Google
AdSense affords any and everybody with a computer an opportunity to make money, but may not be for everybody. Fortunately, there are alternatives to Google. Below are a few for your consideration.

Chikita. Chikita enables bloggers to monetize their original content and opinions by driving traffic to their sites. It also offers retailers new distribution channels to merchandise their products, thereby giving consumers more and better access to a broader base of expert services and advice. Chikita was founded in 2003 and has built a network of more than 12,000 participating blogs and websites, and is adding new members daily.

Clicksor. Clicksor offers webmasters the opportunity to earn more income by simply underlining a selection of clickable text (inline text links). All you need to do is to embed a short html code on your Web site. Whenever someone visits your site, your defined keywords will be replaced by a Clicksor link. In addition, you can also display our text based banner in a selectable size.

Yahoo. Finally lets mention Yahoo just for the heck of it. Yahoo is currently playing catch up to Google and is trying to release its own context sensitive advertising service. While it promises to be a good alternative to Google, the reality may be that it ends up being a copy of something that works pretty well, including similar ad placement restrictions and minimum payout amounts. Still it's worth checking out.

Most Expensive Google AdSense Search
Summarily, when launching and/or expanding your Google AdSense marketing you might as well start competing for some of the higher paying keywords; like mesothelomia and all things related to it, debt consolidation, insurance, etc.

Some web masters ignore these high paying keywords because they believe the competition is too keen to profit by them. Who knows, they may be right. However, I believe that a website age is a website page that lives a long time on the Internet, and that pages are indexed pretty frequently, and who is to say that your page for one of these top paying keywords won't start earning you big dollars?

Why Blogging and SEO Work Well Together

By: Art Gib

Blogging is becoming one of the most popular ways to market a company, brand, personality or product on the Web. Why? Because search engines love content, and there is no better way to create and manage content on the Web than a blog. According to Technorati, there are over 60 million blogs on the Web, with over 100,000 being created every day. A lot of people have caught on to blogging, and there is plenty of room for more.

What is a Blog?
The word 'blog' is a slang compilation of two words; 'web' and 'log', or 'weblog'. Initially established as a way to publish computer log files, the original pioneers of blogging began publishing more and more interesting content. Today, bloggers post news, commentary, and even real time descriptions of events using blog software.

Think of a blog as an 'online journal'. 'Posts', as they are called, are short articles that are listed on your blog site in chronological order. Visiting a blog, you will notice that the most recent article is presented at the top, and earlier stories are listed below, or in an archive.

Blog software is available all over the Internet. Some of the more popular sources are Wordpress and Blogger. Our favorite is Wordpress because it is an 'open source' application that can be installed on your own server and customized.

A custom blog allows you to have more control over the look of the interface, and event to incorporate the blog into your existing site. This is of particular interest to companies who want to use blogging as a way to communicate with customers and keep fresh content at the forefront of their site; a great search engine strategy.

Blogging and SEO: Why is it such a Good Idea?

Search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, scour the Web looking for new content to index. In particular, they are looking for content that is 'keyword rich'; content that is full of relevant keywords. When content is keyword rich, it provides relevance for the site and allows a search engine to properly categorize your blog site into a particular market.

Keywords can be anything from the name of your product, to the name of your company, or the type of services you offer. Refining keywords with geographic specificity is a popular way to climb to the top of a search page in your particular region, even though you may be competing with a lot of sites on a national level. (For instance; 'lawn care' gets over 5.5 million hits, while 'utah lawn care' gets a more reasonable 1.2 million. The more times you can use a keyword in each post, the better.)

Websites that regularly update keyword rich content are considered 'alive and active' by the leading search engines, and are given priority over sites that are considered 'dormant' or 'stagnant'. If your site has not changed in over 60 days, you are in danger of being considered 'stagnant', and falling out of favor with the search engines.

Search engines gain popularity with users based on their ability to direct people to relevant sites that are alive and active with current content. How often do you want to visit a site that hasn't changed in over a year? The search engines feel the same way, and are reluctant to refer a site that hasn't been updated for a while.

Again; a blog is a great way to add content management to your existing site, and is a terrific way to get started on the Web with a basic web presence that can become a very effective marketing tool.

What Else Can a Blog Do?

Aside from writing content, you can do a lot of creative, and even productive things with a blog.

Blog systems provide the ability to upload files and attach them to your posts (articles). Having this ability means you can add your own graphics to each article, dressing them up with photos of people, places and products. You can also add full motion video, slide shows, and even link to You Tube or other streaming video hosting services.

Podcasting has become popular, and is a fun way to add audio to your articles. You can include music, sounds or interviews; virtually anything you can record can be added to your blog as an audio file.

One of the most common things to add to an article is a file such as a PDF or even a Word document. Linking files to your articles allows your readers to download those files, which can be anything from a photo, instructions, or a form to slides, video and audio.

There are also advanced marketing functions you can perform with a blog. By incorporating a subscription function, you can collect leads from your blog, and communicate with your audience via an automated email system. Each time you post a new article, your subscribers will automatically receive an email notification. Instant newsletter.

Getting Started

Blogging can be done in a number of ways; there are free options out there that allow you plenty of space to write all you can at no cost. If you are interested in creating a custom site, with your own graphics, extensions, and management options, you will want to establish a custom blog on your own domain.

If you already have a domain (such as www. yourname. com), it is best to establish your blog on a 'sub-domain'. Your Web guy will know how to do this. Name your sub-domain with a keyword for the best search engine optimization (such as widget. yourname. com).

If you are the technical type, or you have someone who takes care of your Web systems; take a look at wordpress. org and download a copy of their latest open source blog software. Once installed you are ready to go.

5 Money-On-Demand Secrets To Creating Great Adsense Sites

By: Nelson Tan

The rage to milk money from Adsense continues into 2008. While there are many different ways to do this, it's no secret Google is keeping a watchful eye on spam sites which automatically generate pages consistently on a daily basis.

Every now and then, Adsense 'experts' would introduce a 'fresh' new way of generating pages which Google "has not caught on yet", be it article, directory or backlink generators.

While these software are very good at what they do, you can't solely depend on them for long-term success. It's a natural tendency that automatically generated content just doesn't look like quality pages with highly informative, up-to-date content, but it's my personal observation.

Most run-of-the-mill, ads-on-topfold Adsense sites lack substantial sections and deeper structures to be interesting enough to make visitors think they should come back to check them out more often. While generating as many pages as possible is crucial to get them indexed and thereby build substantial presence in search results, these types of pages should only complement principal content that reflects what your site stands for and the selling point it serves to maximize its overall value. There used to be a question that goes, "Is building Adsense sites a business?" My answer is: Adsense is secondary.

Of course, like you I do want Adsense to be my primary source of income. The secret is in emphasizing content and value, not Adsense ads. You may have felt resigned to say, "Does that mean more work?" Not really. Here's another secret inspired by a quote from Albert Einstein: You can't solve your Adsense income challenge at the same level of thinking.

Truth is: I have build a good number of Adsense sites, but Internet Mastery Center, which I'm sure you have loved enough to come back, earns more than some of them despite our intention not to make it Adsense-focused, all the more so when it has absolutely nothing to do with high-paying keywords and the tremendous amount of time that goes into keyword research...which leads to the next secret: create a site with a subject or niche you know you can continually express and expand on instead of getting stuck with a 'lucrative' keyword you may run out of ideas on in the long term.

This is as good as saying Adsense is not just a keyword value game; it is still the classic "How do I get and retain traffic" game, and traffic is not some scoreline, but real people with genuine interest.

eHow.com is an incredible example. It's a free site that shows people how to do a lot of different things. The best way to explain the site is just for you to go have a quick look now. They have hundreds, possibly thousands of pages of content on all sorts of subjects and the way they get traffic to their site is through the search engines.

Every page on the site has an Adsense box on it and that's how it makes money. They also have a Alexa traffic ranking of around 2000 which is great.

Of course, it doesn't make sense to write or purchase that much content by yourself. eHow.com succeeds in getting its visitors involved in content contribution. There's also a wikiHow to get contributors involved in constant update of a common topic or article.

For a start, here are suggestions on the type of sections you can integrate into a site:

1) Lead capture page with freebies or incentives.

2) Article directory.

3) A 'Contact Us' page.

4) An 'About Us' page.

5) Forum: The challenge lies in the time and effort needed to build up momentum to encourage forum participants to write in.

6) An archive section of some kind, for selected articles for example.

7) Blog/podcast pages.

8) Reciprocal link directory.

9) Sitemap.

It doesn't take much to think of these standard sections. Even a products section makes your site look good besides providing another source of income, and then you replicate these sections site after site, niche after niche.

4th secret: Only sites with a general theme can afford to be massive-looking. Examples: Entrepreneur.com and Dog-O-Mania. Then you break the theme down into specifics like gathering them under an umbrella: dog training, dog hygiene, dog naming, dog psychology, doggy habits etc. Accurate targeting of Adsense ads depends on specific subjects as reflected on page. One thing to note is it is better that specific sections are inter-linked in some ways. If you run a site on everything about cancer, because "colon cancer" and "breast cancer" are not intrinsically related, visitors interested in one section may not want to take a first glance at another.

5th secret about content: write from a 'consumer' perspective instead of the 'opportunist' or "how to make money" perspective. What is it your visitors are looking to buy? Ads normally target and appeal directly to consumers. It's pointless to put up content about how to make money with car accessories when there are hardly ads on "how to make money". Stick to introducing car accessories and let the ads do the selling. If an accessory or equipment catch visitors' attention and they click on the ads, you got Adsense dollars.

That's about all the ideas I have at this moment. You should be confident now and maybe have some more new ideas I haven't thought of. For sure, Adsense is a major income source you should seriously explore and make it big if you haven't done so. This is one of those money machines that will make you money-on-demand pretty much for the life of Google.
